GARYS PC BUILD 2013 |
After much badgering and ridiculing from Mark Smith and myself,
my friend Gary Swartz relented to build himself a new PC.
Gary doesn't often build up new PCs for himself.
But he doesn't have to,
because when he does it, he does it right.
Every effort was made to assemble the best Gaming Rig that sensible money can buy.
With of course a dash of something that only the enthusiasts will understand.
Please join me on a pictorial visit to the building of this masterpiece.
COMPONENTS |
CHASSIS
The First component to be unboxed was the gorgeous "Skeleton" chassis from ANTEC.
A little dramatisation from Gary as he begins the unboxing.
The Skeleton chassis is designed to break away from the traditional Box type PC housing,
giving enthusiasts the opportunity to display their kit.
MOTHERBOARD
Gary went all out with his choice of motherboard, purchasing the
ASUS MAXIMUS V FORMULA.
This high end gaming board is of course a member of the prestigious
ASUS - Republic Of Gamers.
Packed with all the latest features, this board is not only very easy on the eye,
but also enjoys the reliability of the ASUS brand name.
PROCESSOR
Again, no expense was spared as Gary chose the most powerful processor that will seat in the Intel 1155 Socket.
That being the unyielding
Intel Core i7 - 3770 K
Which is an 4 core, 8 thread, powerhouse
boasting 8MB of L3 cache and a standard clock speed of 3.5GHz
RAM
16 Gigs of Corsair Vengeance was the order of the day.
The top end RAM runs at 1600 MHz
making it capable of handling anything this Rig can throw at it.
GRAPHICS CARD
The GPU to be installed was the Radeon HD 5770 - by XFX
Capable of driving 3 monitors in unison with Infinity3 technology
HARD DRIVE
Going for the latest and the fastest kit, Gary added a
OCZ Vector 128Gig Solid State Hard Drive
Yet another vital component for a rig designed for top end performance.
This drive is backed up by a magnetic drive for storage.
POWER SUPPLY
Powering the rig will be the
Thermaltake 650 Watt
CONSTRUCTION |
Construction of the rig took just over 4 hours
Attention to detail was painstaking and no effort was spared.
Mark took care of the cabling,
making sure that every wire was wrapped and correctly run for neatness and ease of access
With a casing designed to be a showpiece,
attention to the smallest detail is essential.
COMPLETION |
Finally construction was over
resulting in what is both a computing powerhouse
and a magnificent piece of Geek eye candy.
Gary agrees that the wait for the Skeleton Chassis was worthwhile,
as it is a fitting casing for a top end gaming PC.
IN THE DARK |
Any serious gamer prefers to practice his art in the dark,
thus maximising the immersion of the gameplay.
The following photos therefore show the Rig in its natural state.
Enjoy.
IN CONCLUSION |
Thank you for your interest in this post.
I hope you have enjoyed the eye candy as much as I have.
Thank you also to Gary Swartz for inviting Mark Smith and myself
to join him in the build of a truly Epic Gaming PC
This is the most top end Computer that I have personally been involved with.
I'm sure it will offer its user many nights of gaming pleasure.
